Is phone farming a good way to make money?

Can you really make money with phone farming?

Money seems to be tight for everyone these days and everyone is looking for ways to make extra money. There are several websites and apps that will give you a small amount of money for every video you watch on your smartphone. They include an ad in between each video and they make a certain amount of money for every ad that someone watches and that’s why they pay people to run these apps. Some of these companies even allow you to have more than one account per household. So some people buy multiple phones and basically just run these apps all day long in order to make some extra (and passive) income. And this is how “phone farming” was born.

But is it worth it?

This is something I actually used to do. I mostly used the apps from Swagbucks (they have several different apps you can run) and the Perk TV app. I made anywhere from $50-$150 a month. The reason it varied so much is that these companies are constantly changing their policies. So one week they might be paying pretty well and the next week they might drop their rates again. So there is never any real consistency with these apps. Another issue people run into is a lot of these apps aren’t very good quality. One day an app might run smoothly and the next it might be buggy all day and you have to keep checking it over and over (and then it isn’t so “passive” anymore).

Another issue is the cost of the phones. In order to really do this, you need to have a lot of phones. When I was phone farming, I just had 4 phones that cost about $20 each. Some people say that the apps don’t run as well on cheaper phones but you have to consider that these phones will literally be running videos 24/7 so I don’t recommend buying expensive phones for that purpose since they will just burn out eventually.

I stopped phone farming because the companies started going downhill so much and they decreased the payments to the point that it wasn’t worth it. Many of the apps that used to work really well started messing up constantly (and it wasn’t just me, a lot of other people were complaining too) so I decided to just move on.

But you can make money doing this. Whether or not it’s worth it is up to you. If you are interested I recommend starting out with some cheap phones from Amazon (you don’t need to have a data plan or anything and you can run these apps on wifi) and a few companies to get started with are Swagbucks, Perk, EarnHoney, and Rewardable.
