Have you ever seen a couple that seems completely mismatched? But for whatever reason they seem to be really in love?
Can You Make Someone Fall In Love With You?
Maybe. Well, you can’t truly force someone to love you or be attracted to you. But apparently there are a few things you can do to help increase the odds of someone falling in love with you.
The Role Of Adrenaline In Love
There is research that shows that increasing a person’s levels of adrenaline by doing something exciting together can help couples develop a deeper bond and fall in love. In an experiment published by the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology men where asked to walk across two different bridges. One bridge was pretty stable but the other one was much more shaky and seemed more dangerous. The men had to cross these bridges in order to speak to an attractive female researcher. These men were given her number to call her later. The participants who met the researcher after going over the more dangerous bridge were more likely to call and ask her out. Being in a dangerous situation is thrilling and tends to rub off on others that experience the adrenaline rush with you.
So the next time you’re out with your partner suggest something fun and exciting. Maybe rock climbing or white-water rafting? Next time you meet a couple that seems mismatched, try asking how they met and fell in love. There is a good possibility they experienced some thrill together.
Ask Him or Her to do a Favor
It seems like if someone does a favor for YOU that YOU would end up liking them more. But that’s not necessarily the case. If you can get someone to do a favor for you they might end up liking you more in the long run. Why would this work? We all like to feel good about ourselves. So when you do a favor for someone else, it makes you feel good about yourself. And then we tend to associate that person with positive feelings.
This is actually called the Ben Franklin Effect. He is thought to be the first person that noticed when coworkers do you a favor they are more willing to do another favor for you later.
You can also try this trick on someone that doesn’t seem to like you. For instance, you might have a coworker that seems to dislike you. If you can get this person to do you a favor you probably won’t become their new favorite person. And I seriously doubt they’ll fall in love with you. But they might end up disliking you less.
Do you know the language of love? Ha, that’s the cheesiest thing I’ve ever said. But seriously, experts say that up to around 93% of our communication is nonverbal. So what kind of signals are you sending out to people? When people start studying sign language they often find that they’ve been sending out the wrong message. Everything you do, from how you position yourself in a room to how you place objects around yourself, tells a story. One of the best books about body language I’ve ever read is Body Language for Dummies. It gives awesome advice not just for romantic situations but also for the workplace and every day situations too.
