I’ve written about what it’s like to have PCOS before and I know that it’s one of the most common reasons for infertility in women. It can also cause a lot of other problems like having cysts on your ovaries, acne, unwanted hair growth, weight gain, and more. But not all woman have all these symptoms. In fact, you can have PCOS without having ovarian cysts.
PCOS is a risk factor for developing diabetes later on. So diet plays an important role in managing PCOS. Many women with PCOS are actually insulin resistant so it’s important to eat a diet that will help reverse it. But most of us are really busy these days. If you’re too busy to cook you’re certainly too busy to research what foods you should eat, right?

That’s where this book comes in. The author, Tera Spencer, has struggled with PCOS herself but she’s also a nutritionist and she’s written this great book to make dealing with PCOS easier for women everywhere.
The recipes in this book are simple and cost-effective but most importantly, they will help you manage insulin resistance. These recipes are quick and easy. There is an entire chapter devoted to smoothie recipes. I was really excited to see that because unfortunately, I’m a picky eater and sometimes the only way I can get healthy food in me is by blending it into a smoothie. The recipe for Green Citrus Smoothie was delicious and has cinnamon in it which is one of my favorite ingredients.
There are tons of other recipes as well like the Sweet Potatoe Egg Casserole, Hot Strawberry Breakfast Quinoa, and Simple Tomato Soup. The tomato soup is probably my favorite. I grew up eating the canned version but this one is so much better. There are so many recipes in this book it’s going to take me forever to actually try them all.
This book also includes a 2-week meal plan with shopping lists and a glycemic index for tons of foods so if you’re interested in how much certain foods will affect your glucose levels, all you have to do is check that section of the book. There is even a section for measurement conversions. So anything you could possibly need to start eating well is in this book…except the actual food, of course. You have to buy that at the store. 🙂
