One of my hobbies is making money online. It certainly didn’t start out as a hobby though. Years ago when I didn’t have a job I started looking into it because I had no other way of making money. I’m happy to say that I make an okay living now as a freelance writer and blogger, but I still enjoy making extra money online. In fact, I make anywhere between $100-$200 doing it. There are all kinds of things you can do to make extra cash. You can take marketing surveys, or do transcription, or even listen to music and rate it. Which brings me to the company I’m talking about right now.
Can You Really Get Paid To Listen To Music With MusicXRay?
MusicXRay has been around for several years now. I can’t remember exactly when I signed up but I know it was a long, long time ago. They send you an e-mail every so often asking you to listen to a song and once you listen to at least 30 seconds of it you’ll make $0.10. You have to have at least $20 before they’ll pay you which wouldn’t be so bad if they actually sent more than one or two songs every 3 or 4 months. Oh and if they also paid you.
MusicXRay is a scam
After years, and I literally mean years of waiting to hit that $20 cash out limit it finally happened…way back in February. What? Um, yeah. They only make payments four times a year. Or they only claim to make payments four times a year I should say.
“On March 31st, 2018 (end of Q1) Music Xray will pay all cash currently owed through February, 15th, 2018, for all accounts that made a request before February 16th, 2018. If your payment request was made February 16th, 2018 or later your payment will be made Q2 2018 (6/30/18).”
As you can see, I made a payment request on February 17, 2018, which means my payment should have gone out June 30, 2018. According to their site, they make payments through Paypal. But so far my account just says “pending” and I haven’t gotten any e-mail saying that a payment is on the way or anything.
So I e-mailed them twice and they still haven’t responded. I also contacted them on Twitter and so far they have continued to ignore me.
But What About The Positive Reviews?
If you google them you’ll see some positive reviews but if you read them closely most of them never actually mention getting paid. That’s because you get so few songs to review that it takes years to reach the $20 cash out limit that people just give up anyway. But they assume it’s still a cool way to make a little extra money (and it would be if they actually paid).
If they ever actually pay me I’ll come back and provide an update but I don’t expect to get paid. But considering the fact that they refuse to answer my e-mails I’m not holding my breath. But fortunately, I don’t mind trying out things like this and seeing if they’re legit or not. If nothing else, I was able to write about it and maybe help someone else avoid wasting their time. 🙂
